I'm installing gentoo 1.4 with kernel 2.4.22-gentoo-r5 on my dell inspiron 8200. The first part of the install has gone fine, but when I boot into the system I don't have any networking. I've done everything that was in the install guide with nothing. dhcp works fine on my network and worked fine during the install but now when booting it gives an error about not being able to start 'netmount'. The adapter is 3com's 3c920. Was there something I had to install during install or what? Thanks in advance

You probably didn't compile support for it in the kernel. Find the networking section in menuconfig, then go under Ethernet (10 or 100) and select your network card. You can either compile it in or compile it as a module, but IMO it's easier to compile in.

(I'm assuming you compiled your kernel manually instead of using genkernel)
