Ximian setup tools on Gentoo

I'm wondering why XST wasn't be ported on gentoo.
Is there soomebody that is working on it???

XST wasnt ported because as far as i know it is an rpm based system...gentoo does not use rpms (it can if you like...) but the lack of dependancies in your rpm database would make XST not functional anyway...

cause gentoo packages wont be listed in in the rpm db.

The Ximian Setup Tools have nothing todo with rpm at all. They configure things like network settings, user accounts, time zones. You can find more info here:

They have not been very active lately but they are looking for a noncomercial distro to port to. They have a clean client/server model so porting them to gentoo should not be too hard for some of the perl hackers out there.

If somebody could hack on it , It will bring a first admin tool to gentoo....
