Kde without gnome?

Hi is it possible to emerge KDE without gnome? I noticed when trying to start my system after a stage1 install and only emergeing KDe i couldnt get KDE to run. So after emergeing gnome KDE finally worked.

I also tried a fresh stage1 install in where i only tried to emerge the gnome manager instead of KDE and i was able to get in without a hitch. Anyone else experience this?

Try adding -gnome to your use variables then try kde.
