I install gentoo on my dell d600.
Kernel 2.6.1
Grub
I use genkernel
No framebuffer at startup.
I have the following message during the boot:

might be something to do with "/dev/pty" in your kernel conf.
you could try to ssh from another box and see if your kernel actually booted properly but for the display
or
after the booting message, go and boil some water, and try to log on. if you dont use any Display Manager you have to Code: | (blank)username<enter>
(still blank)password<enter>
(still still blank, wait for 2 seconds)startx

and hopefully X will start, then you will be able to tweak your kernel.
i'm using a presario 2210 + ati IGP 320M with 2.6.1-rc2, here is my XFConfig if it helps _________________ Feeds2Read.net

No the machine is not on the network and the led for the hd doesn't turn on.
I read the post if about the grub error that said it is an acpi error so I disable acpi and apm in the kernel without any succes.
I upgrade my bios to the latest version without any succes.
Are there a difference between the gentoo-dev-sources and the development-sources about acpi? |
