hello!
i have installed GNOME 2.4.1 from gentoo protage and i got this error message when login to gnome:
Your Session only lasted less than 10 seconds. If you have not logout yourself, this could mean that there is some installations problem or that you maybe out of diskspace. Try logging in with with one of the failsafe sessions to see if you can fix this problem.
details from ~/.xsession-error file:
/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/X11R6/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/log/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l ":0" "arsi"
/etc/X11/gdm/Xsession: Setup done, will execute: /usr/bin/ssh-agent -- /etc/X11/Sessions/Gnome
and when i start with "failsafe gnome" i got the same error message.
please help me with this ... Andreas _________________ AMD Athlon XP 1700+ @1467.411 MHz - 1024 Mb RAM - PDC20276 with 1x40Gb + 1x60Gb Striped - Linux 2.6.1 - Cabel Internet |

I got a similar error on my laptop last week, strangely I found that when I reconfigured and compiled a new kernel the problem went away. I'm still not sure what the exact cause of it was. _________________ Chris Egan |
