Is there a soundcard, that, under linux, out of the box, works?
That does hardware mixing, 5.1 output, 2-channel spdif output, ac3/dts passthrough, all with nothing more then a kernel recompile/module install, and maybe minor tweaking of a conf file?
I'm at the point where it's cheeper to spend the $$ to get a different sound card then continue trying to get my nforce2 (Asus A7N8X Delux) onboard sound to work (it works in XMMS and nothing else). |

well.. I think the best supported card is sblive series, using alsa eku10l1 driver.
so if you use a 2.6 kernel you can use the alsa driver.
but to configure spdif and 5.1 channel etc you will need to tweak.. it's not configured this way out of the box.
also I'm not sure if it has ac3 or dts support.. _________________ Kororaa install method - have Gentoo up and running quickly and easily, fully automated with an installer! |
