Yeah, I tried it about a year and a half ago. At that time it looked promising, but there was only so much you can do with it.

I have just looked at some screenshots and I noticed, that this looks like a fork of the windows gui :x

that it does but it's written in FLTK which is a very light tool kit :D

Meh. Of all the interfaces he chooses to copy, he chooses Windows.

And anyway, he should just use XPde...

haven't had a chance to try Equinox, but fltk is the shit. It's designed to be fast and light... just like it promises. It is easy to code, compiles small, loads quick, and runs fast. What more could you want?

applications? fltk can be as fast and small and whatever it wants, doesnt help much if you still have to load up kde to get any decent applications.

imo KDE doesn't have any good apps. all the GNOME/GTK+ ones are better like:

evolution > kmail/whatever else there is
gaim > kopete
pan > knode
epiphany(mozilla) > konqueror(web) [oh no he didn't!]

i also favor nautilus(bmg'd) over konq for file manager too. i like springloaded folders and thumbnails for movies :P

anyways, just mentioning EDE in case someone gets bored and maybe wants to write an ebuild or 3 (fltk-2.x, eFLTK, EDE) hehee
