Hi,
Which firewall offers the best security and isn't that hard to manage??
I need one and don't really know which one I should choose
[edit] maybe good to know, I'm not running X,KDE or GNOME _________________ ...Unix, MS-DOS, and Windows NT (also known as the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly). |

if you want an easy to setup thing, checkout Coyote Linux. Its a full flex distro aimed at firewalling.
If you want a full system AND a firewall i suggest you start reading up on the firewall-HOWTO and the kernel HOWTO.
Iptables is you friend
Veel succes! (goodluck) |

If you are running the firewall on a separate, dedicated PC then look at smoothwall [smoothwall.org] which is *very* easy to install. Took me 15 mins to be up and running - put the CD in and it does everything for you, very easy to maintain via web-based admin and very secure in standard setup. [/url] |

Shorewall is a script that makes iptables much easier to use since the normal way of handling iptables has no real standard way of doing so.
It is nice because you don't need Xfree or anything like that installed, only a base system with a kernel with NETFILTER modules. |

I use shorewall, and using the example configuration files from their site, seting it up is extremely easy _________________ I am Beta, don't expect correct behaviour from me.
