Has anyone gotten lirc to work with, specifically, gentoo-dev-sources (2.6.1) and a homebrew serial receiver? My lirc_serial module claims to be in use and thus won't insert. Also has no luck with it built into the kernel. lirc-0.7.0_pre2 installed fine though. _________________ www.bearscanfly.org - Because hiking is cool |

do a
/bin/setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none
before modprobing (in case you connect the serial receiver to com1...)
...worked for me...

that got lirc_serial loaded. =) now only if the blasted thing would respond......... It shows signals in xmode2 and lircd starts up fine. irexec and irxevent are accepted as clients. But nothing will happen after that. _________________ www.bearscanfly.org - Because hiking is cool |

Finally! Man I feel retarded. My mother must have been right... It turns out that my receiver was getting interference from my LCD monitor! I ended up velcroing the IR receiver(converted mouse), to the underside of my desk and it works fine now! I ended up in the meantime building ANOTHER serial device..., but that not such a bad thing, seeing as how I did a MUCH better job this time. I think I'm a level 2 solderer now. Hopefully, soon, I'll use the other serial device to set up a box in the livingroom for the tv to see networked shares. Thanks for the help. _________________ www.bearscanfly.org - Because hiking is cool |
