mplayer plays some video files at hyper-speed......

my mplayer playes some video files way to fast, even the sound sounds like chipmunks. I'm not seeing any kind of pattern to which videos. I was wondering if anyone else noticed this or knows a fix for it. if you need more info just let me know what to post. thanks.

when you're using alsa it's a known bug. the alsa-people say it's a bug in mplayer. mplayer says it's alsa's fault. enable oss-emulation in your kernel (if you have the directory /dev/sound/ you already have it enabled.) and tell mpalyer to use oss. then mplayer will work, but you will run into problems with alsa-plugins like dmix.
