I am trying to emerge gtoaster and I get the following error (using althon xp)

Code:

make: Makefile:430: pipe: Too many open files
make: *** creating jobs pipe: Too many open files.  Stop.
 
!!! ERROR: app-cdr/gtoaster-1.0_beta6 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 79, Exitcode 2
!!! parallel make failed


anyone have any ideas about this problem?

This problem have been discussed some time ago. Take a look at here and here. Maybe this can help you.
You can do a workaround if you have another machine running Gentoo. You can build a binary package (don't forget to correctly set your CFLAGS) on it and then move the resulting tbz2 to your $PKGDIR (usually /usr/portage/packages/) and tem run emerge -k gtoaster.

Just to let everyone know, this problem has been solved.
I varified this too.

up your sync and try again.
