OK, OK, I know there's alreadya lot of these threads, but I'm at a loss right now. I've done damn near everything I could think of, and my dvds are still playing slower than a geriatric in a 100 yard dash.
Here's the info you'll be asking for ():
-2.6.1-gentoo kernel
-DFI Lan Party NF2 Ultra motherboard with necessary IDE, sound drivers installed
-DMA mode is currently on for /dev/dvd and /dev/hdb (gentoo drive)
-xine is using Xv for video playback, alsa for audio
-CPU usage hovers around 70-95% during DVD playback
-SCSI emulation is not set ATM
-Output from "tail -f /var/log/messages" when the dvd starts playing

DVD drive going bad, perhaps? Would SCSI emulation help any? Did I miss something? Are there random fluctuations in the Force tonight giving people a hard time with their rigs? _________________ Wanna get hold of me? PM's the best way. |
