After a few days I found out that the problem isn't my head. My Airport card is working, but its not working with my Router at home.
The Router is a Siemens SE505 Router and it works perfectly with an XP machine.
The WLAN card is a Apple Airport 802.11b and it forks perfectly (tested on a public WLAN).
But the two things doesn't work together... I've tried the latest firmware for my router. tried so switch to 802.11b only mode (it supports b and g), tried without WEP. Nothing.
The only thing I haven't tried jet is to connect via airport to the router with osX. now I have a gentoo only system on my iBook, in a few weeks I'll get a new HD, then I'll make a dualboot.
Any ideas what I can do? Do you think is the incompatibility an airport or an siemens fault?

More info would be useful - is the network name etc. set up correctly? ESSID, channel, mode of the airport card etc.
Check all these things (/sbin/iwconfig) .
Can't help any more than that I'm afraid. |
