I applied the workaround of

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=125620&highlight=smp+power

and it works quite OK, but still there seems to be a random factor in the shutdown (AND POWER OFF) of SMP systems. I don't know the official status of the power-off support for SMP systems (it was not supported in the past). Does anyone know if this is still the case.

What I experience is that sometimes the poweroff works OK and sometimes it doesn't. I did not find a pattern in it.

Can anyone say something usefull about this?

Thanks,
Dick

It works fine on mine. I've only tried it with 2.6.0 development sources and 2.6.1 gentoo sources, though.

That's not exactly useful, though :)....

Do uou use apm or acpi? Did you apply the workaround of Luud (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=125620&highlight=smp+power)?

Do you pass special parameters to the kernel at boottime (like apm=power-off)

Or did it work out-of-the-box?
