ATI Radeon performance for SMP system/hyperthread prob

System: 2x2.8GHz Xeon on Asus PCDL Deluxe mobo (set to hyperthreading; ie 4 virtual procs); kernel 2.4.24; latest emerge ati-drivers; Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB); AGP BIOS setting to 128MB

Q1: What method can be used to determine whether I'm running AGP 2x, 4x or 8x?

Q2: Are the following stats for my setup reasonable?

glxgears av. 4200FPS
fgl_glxgears av. 550FPS
ET av. 50FPS@1024x768x32bpp/high everything (textures, geom, etc) using Beach timedemo

The other question is: anyone any idea why I get systems hangs when hyperthreading is enabled - the trigger seems to be lots of disc access. Where can I look in the logs to get an idea?
