Salut,
Que pensez-vous de l'idée de faire un forum francophone pour Gentoo? Les germanophones en ont un, les hispanophones aussi.
J'avoue que je ne suis pas du genre à déployer l'étendard de la francophonie (ce n'est même pas ma langue maternelle, et je me débrouille assez bien en anglais). Bien sûr, pour tous ceux qui parlent uniquement français, ce serait vraiment un plus. L'idée principale, en ce qui me concerne, ce serait d'échanger des combines concernant les particularités d'installation pour les francophones. Exemple: chez moi, certaines applications refusent d'imprimer les accents circonflexes. Et ainsi de suite. Evidemment, si je vais demander ça dans les forums de base, la majeure partie des gens auront un clavier anglais, allemand, espagnol, et ne sauront répondre à ma question. Mais c'est juste un exemple perso. Et quoi qu'il en soit, ce forum sera certainement le bienvenu, non? Avec ça, on pourrait peut-être leur ( = aux gars de Gentoo) demander la création d'une mailing list parallèle. Qu'en pensez-vous?
Répondez juste par "présent" (ici juste après, pas en mode privé). J'ai cru comprendre que dès qu'on était un peu plus que trois ou quatre, un forum serait installé à part pour nous.

However, to those who respond, please ensure your response has an English translation -- high school was a long time ago and I'd hate to push my luck.

La tribune de www.gentoofr.org est peut etre bien mais contrairement a un forum il n'y a pas de fonction de recherche, de classement thematique ...

Et puis le forum permettrait d'aborder des thème autre que ceux qui paraissent dans la tribune. Moi je suis pour à 100%, on arrivera bien à le remplir ...
Au passage, j'en profite pour demander la possibilité d'avoir phpbb en français, c'est pas compliqué à faire et ça serait sympa, même si c'est beaucoup moins important que le forum lui même ...

Folks -- let me put my request another way. I'm guessing the general gist of this thread is to request that a French Gentoo forum be created. More than that, I cannot decipher.
If I cannot read and understand your posts, I guarantee I will never be able to fulfill your requests. So, if you'd like me to give your requests any sort of attention or consideration, please provide an English translation.

So, kikinovak wrote in our new "Gentoo french page" ( http://www.gentoofr.org) that it could be a good idea to create un french forum as the others (German, ...)
We have already a free "tribune" on the site wich I speak before, as slashdot.com, but only for gentoo, but a special gentoo french forum could allows us to speak about more specifics subjects. And, it is on the THE official Gentoo website, so everyone would know it.

Fair enough -- but if I can't understand what you're asking for, then I can't do much about it.
Regarding a french forum, *if* there is enough interest to warrant creating one, I'll need someone to volunteer to be a translator and moderator. The Gentoo-specific questions in our FAQ will need to be converted into French, both initially as well as on an ongoing basis.

You can get a copy of the FAQ source in the necessary format from here. klieber will probably contact you or post here about what to do with it when you're done.
It will be published in the space that users see here if they have selected French as their display language.

Compte-tenu du nombre de message, il semble qu'il n'y a pas
enorment d'utilisateur francais.... pour l'instant. A mon avis c'est du
au fait que le cable n'est pas encore bien distribuer en france. Gentoo
sans cable: aye aye aye. 
Par contre le montant de docs linux francaise sur le net prouve que
linux est populaire.
Je pense que des que le cable devient plus populaire (mois cher) en
France, on va voire beaucoup d'utilisateurs.

Je suis sur que ca ne posera pas de probleme....

Judging by the amount of posts, it looks like there isn't that many
french speaking users. I'd say that might have to do with cable
not being still quite expensive in France. But France is big on Linux, that's a fact, and I think that as soon as cable gets cheap enough
we'll be flooded with french users !!!!!!

I'm sure that won't a probleme. Lots of good French/English speakers outhere...
BTW: reading this you might think: well, he's french ain't good enough, so he can't be french, yet he's english isn't brillant either.

OK, sounds like there's enough interest to make a sustainable forum.
As soon as someone sends me a translation of this document in French, I'll create a new French forum and add the French language pack to phpBB. My email address is my nick on these forums at gentoo dot org. (damn spammers and their email harvesters...)
dioxmat will be the moderator for the new forum.
