well, i don't know if this error means anything, but....

Code:
# gdesklets /usr/share/gdesklets/Displays/SysInfo/sysinfo.display

Could not connect to gnome-session. GNOME session management will not be
available for this application.
gDesklets 0.25

it works, i just don't know why it doesn't show up on the desktop. does it have to do with me disabling nautilus icon manager and using idesk? help?

Well, to sorta answer your problem...the warning message is normal (don't ask me why) but you need to "place" the desklet by clicking somewhere on your desktop after you initialize whichever display you want.

No need to post bumps to yourself, people live in different timezones, and have different forum-checking habits.

To answer your question about the session-management warning message: ignore the message for now. Session management doesnt work under 0.25. I'll be attempting to get gDesklets-0.25.1 into portage either this evening (my evening that is), or tomorrow, which will hopefully fix this.

I don't know enough about how iDesk works to comment on that, but perhaps try disabling it, before you try gDesklets. You don't need nautilus at all, but it's possible that iDesk and gDesklets are layering funnily. Also depends on your WM possibly.

Good luck.

sorry about bumping before, i was just getting desperate after reading a bunch of documentation and not getting anywhere.

i tried it with nautilus (i think, it was late and i was tired) and idesk, and neither worked, but i'll try it with nothing when i get home.

ok, update.

Code:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "./SysInfo/__init__.py", line 332, in __get_sys_info_thread
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "./SysInfo/__init__.py", line 332, in __get_sys_info_thread
  File "./SysInfo/__init__.py", line 93, in __do_sys
AttributeError: Sys instance has no attribute 'get_name'

I am now constantly getting that error, after i load the desklet and type
Code:
gdesklets &

the memory and sysinfo panels load, but its only for a few seconds, and after that they flicker while that error just keeps rolling past.[/code]
