Is there any way to get the volume buttons on my laptop working? I read a thread about who had gentoo working on what laptops, and some guy (who had an hp ze4430us -- same as me) said "everything works," so I'm assuming its possible. Can anyone help me with this? |

You can use xev to see if they generate keycodes when pressed. If they do, then it's just a matter of mapping the keycodes to events via .Xmodmap. If you dig around a bit for xev and .Xmodmap, you should get some good information.
It's also a little bit easier if you use something like GNOME or KDE, where they provide a graphical interface to set these keys (for instance, in GNOME, go to Desktop Preferences -> Multimedia Keys). |
