I've got a slight problem with crontab, every once in a while I get an email like this:

Code:
Return-path: <root@host>
Envelope-to: root@host
Delivery-date: Fri, 06 Feb 2004 16:00:01 +0100
Received: from root by host with local (Exim 4.21)
   id 1Ap7Sa-0008KD-Rb
   for root@host; Fri, 06 Feb 2004 16:00:00 +0100
From: root@host (Cron Daemon)
To: root@host
Subject: Cron <root@host> test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons
X-Cron-Env: <SHELL=/bin/sh>
X-Cron-Env: <HOME=/root>
X-Cron-Env: <PATH=/usr/bin:/bin>
X-Cron-Env: <LOGNAME=root>
Message-Id: <E1Ap7Sa-0008KD-Rb@host>
Date: Fri, 06 Feb 2004 16:00:00 +0100

find: /var/spool/cron/lastrun/cron.hourly: No such file or directory

Now, I guess this is because of my crontab running some tasks for too long?
If so, how can I fix this?
The only /etc/cron.* folder containing files is cron.daily, with makewhatis.cron, qmail-genrsacert.sh and slocate
I assume it's slocate taking too long to update the locate-database?

Help would be greatly appreciated! :)

edit your /etc/crontab and remove the line
* * * * * root test -x /usr/sbin/run-crons && /usr/sbin/run-crons
or just coment it out

But this will disable automatic update of the locate-db, will it not?
This is not what I want, I like being able to use locate ;)

I've been getting those emails occasionally but never had time to investigate. So you're not alone in experiencing this problem.
