Just upgraded to KDE 3.2 - very nice - buy now Kopete has stopped working. It starts up, but with no accounts defined (though my contact list is there). If I try to add a new account, and select any of them, I get an error "impossible to load protocol".

The Jabber protocol is the only one I'm interested in, but the others give the same error as well.

Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there a known fix? The only mention I've seen of Kopete problems seems to be stylesheet issues, which I don't have.

Deleting the old Kopete config causes it to fall over on startup.

Hi,

I'm having the exact same problem : upgrade from kde3.1.4 to 3.2, contact list ok, accounts gone. Trying to add a new protocol gave "impossible to load protocol".

Hopefully someone can find a fix for this annoying problem!

Hi,

Thanks for the hint, I tried your command and this is the result :

Code:

root@RedDwarf mike # ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -pU kopete
>>> --upgradeonly implies --update... adding --update to options.

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[blocks B     ] =kde-base/kdelibs-3.2* (from pkg net-im/kopete-0.8_rc1)

<snip>

[ebuild  N    ] net-im/kopete-0.8_rc1

It seems to me that the kopete version in kdelibs (the kopete which isn't working) is blocking the net-im one. Any suggestions ?

That worked for me. Kopete upgraded itself to 0.8, and is now working fine.

Actually, I used -u instead of -U, and it just upgraded the kopete package. No reason for the change, other than I typed it from memory, and automatically used lowercase.

Thanks very much.

And sometimes it doesn't. The searches I tried didn't find anything useful.
