It seems that qt 3.2.3 does not like to compile when opengl is set to use nvidia rather than xfree. I had a compile error, and searching these forums yielded many similar problems, but not the very one I was having.

However, the solution for many of the problems seems to be the same:

opengl-update xfree && emerge -U qt && opengl-update nvidia

This will change what opengl is using from nvidia drivers to xfree drivers, install qt, and then set opengl back to using nvidia.

I'm not sure if this will work for all qt emerge problems, but it worked for a variety of them so far...
