Hi guys, im a newbie to gentoo/open source, and i was installing gentoo on a spare computer, but i seem to have a problem. Gentoo keeps seeing any hard drive that i plug in as a 99mb drive, i've used a 13GB WD hard drive, and a 850 WD hard drive. Can anyone shed some light on maybe some commands im missing? some other configuration i need to do? thanks in advance |

Please give us some more information on what you did, and how that information got to you, and maybe someone will see what's wrong.
Anyway, you are in the right place to learn linux. Gentoo guides you to success, whilst others might make it too easy to install, and hide valuable excercises from your learning path.
when the live-cd bash prompt comes up, do this:
cdimage # dmesg | grep hd
dmesg reports kernel boot messages, and the | sends that report to the program grep, that only returns lines that contain the string hd.
Good luck. |
