|

That problem xmms shows only with musepack files. It works great for ogg and mp3.
My gear:
AthlonXP Barton 2600+
Delta1010 (envy24) alsa
1 GB DDR 333
ASUS A7N8x
xmms is crashing when I want to play *.mpc. It seems that xmms have problems to convert utf8 coded tags to whatever. I made insmod nls_utf8 but that don't work. I edited a lot of file tags on WinXP with winamp5 some days before. The files are still working in winamp5.
This I get when I load only *.mpc files
Code: |
xmms: charset.c:980: xmms_charset_recode_id3: Assertion `buf' failed.
Aborted
|
that I get when I load my whole lib into xmms
Code: |
** WARNING **: convert_string(): Conversion not supported. Charsets: UTF-8 -> C |
Any Idea? |

I get this too. Beep Media Player on the other hand opens and plays single .mpc files with the xmms plugin ( v0.98 ) just fine except for the occasional crash and it immediately crashes if I try to add a file to the play list. |

Yeah, I'm getting this as well. I just emerged the most recent (masked) xmms 1.2.9 and it started giving me gyp. I tried emerging the most recent musepack plugin (0.98-r1) but that didn't help either.
It seems to happen mainly when I try to add a whole directory.
And I'm also getting these errors, but they don't seem to be a problem:
Code: |
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:494:(snd_pcm_hw_start) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed: Broken pipe
** WARNING **: alsa_free(): snd_pcm_start() failed: Broken pipe
|
I might try to put the old version of xmms back and see if that helps ... |

I installed xmms 1.2.9-r1 instead of r2 and I don't seem to be having this problem anymore. What versions are you guys running? |

I was using 1.2.9-r2, now -r1 which seems to work perfectly! |

I changed to xmms-1.2.9-1 and no more problems with musepack files. I submit a bug report now. |

I'm running xmms-1.2.10-r5 with musepack-0.99. No problems here. Try updating your xmms - I've had problems with earlier versions. Emerge with ~x86. |

xmms-1.2.10-r13 gives me the same problem, wasn't this supposed to be fixed from -r5?
Actually I get a segfault... |

Try going back to xmms-musepack-1.00 (if you are using 1.1). It has worked for some people, and stopped the segfaults for me (though it still won't play ) _________________ Far from idleness being the root of all evil, it is rather the only true good --soren kierkegaard

I've released xmms-musepack-1.2-RC1 recently, try to see if it fix your issues.
If it only crash on one file, you should pm a way to get this file so I could check whether it's a bug in the plugin or the file. |
