I had lilo and grub both working before. I just installed Mandrake 10_b2 and it overwrote lilo (I use it's lilo or grub as my bootloader).

I edited it and ran lilo, but it wants to find -ONLY- those kernels on the Mandrake /boot now.

Any idea how I can get it to look for the right kernel on hda6 /boot that is for the Gentoo root hda7 ?

vmlinuz/initrd are symlinks but I have tried the full kernel/initrd names also...no luck.

Here's the pertinent part of lilo...

Quote:
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
vga=normal
default="Mandrake"
keytable=/boot/us.klt
prompt
nowarn
timeout=100
message=/boot/message
menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.2-0.rc3.1mdk
label="Mandrake"
root=/dev/hda9
initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.2-0.rc3.1mdk.img
append="devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi splash=verbose acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda8"
vga=788
read-only

image=/boot/vmlinuz
label="Gentoo"
root=/dev/hda7
initrd=/boot/initrd
append="init=/linuxrc devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi hdd=ide-scsi acpi=ht resume=/dev/hda8 splash=verbose"
vga=788
read-only

Are you saying that you have two /boot partitions? You only need one. Put all your kernels, etc. in there. Otherwise, lilo won't know where to look for them.

Yes, thank you...I was thinking about this.

I wonder why it found the right partition before, but won't now...???
