festplatte kopieren

hallo!
ich habe für meinen notebook eine neue festplatte.
und ich habe einen adapter dass ich eine notebookfestplatte an einen normalen IDE bus stecken kann.
ich möchte jetzt alle daten (mehrere partitionen (tw. NTFS), bootsektor) auf die neue platte bringen.

also wie kann ich ein komplettes Image der Platte in eine Datei speichern und dieses dann wieder auf eine platte bringen?

Hi

denke mal, das sollte mit partimage gehen. Ein Image der alten Platte auf dem Rechner ablegen, neue Platte an den Adapter und zurückspielen.

Partimage & NTFS

"The NTFS (Windows NT File System) is currently not fully supported: this means you will be able to save an NTFS partition if system files are not very fragmented, and if system files are not compressed. In this case, you will be able to save the partition into an image file, and you will be able to restore it after. If there is a problem when saving, an error message will be shown and you won't be able to continue. If you have successfully saved an NTFS NTFS partition, you shouldn't have problems as you restore it (except in the case of bugs). Then the best way is to try to save a partition to know if it is possible. If not, try to defragment it with diskeeper or another tool, and try to saving the partition again."

dd könnte Probleme machen, wenn die neue Platte eine andere Geometrie (also Sektoren etc. anders aufgebaut sind als bei der alten) hat.
Für den ganzen Linux-Mist kannste partimage nehmen. NTFS ist halt nich nicht perfekt in partimage. Wenn ich aber Deine Frage richtig verstanden habe, dann hast Du ja noch die alte Platte zur Hand. Somit könnte ein Test mit Partimage nicht schaden. Wenn NTFS Probleme macht, kannst so etwas wie Ghost nehmen.
Kleiner Tipp: In der neuen CT liegt eine Knoppix bei. Da war bis dato immer partimage mit dabei.

Amt,

habe bezüglich Partimage gleich ma 'ne Frage.
Benutze Partimage schon ewig zum sichern meiner Partitionen (auch NTFS), klappt auch wunderbar mit dem wiederherstellen (auch NTFS

).
Nun habe ich letztens meine Windoff-Platte ausgetauscht und wollte so ein Image auf die neue Partition nuddeln.
Partimage hat aber gemeckert, dass die Größe der Zielpartition nicht der Größe der Image-Datei entspricht
und hat den Vorgang abgebrochen.
Die neue Partition ist eigentlich größer gewesen als die von der die Image-Datei ursprünglich stammt.
==> Paar Stunden Windows-Installation-Amüsement.
Nun meine Frage: Lässt sich diese Überprüfung der Zielpartition irgendwie unterbinden?

für Linux-Partitionen nehme ich (in Knoppix, damit das "Quell-System" nicht läuft)
