|
|
Hi!
After having upgraded to kde-3.2, i have problems with printing , with kde but also with openoffice.
The strange thing is that with kedit i can print, with kword i cannot and i get this error message: "/usr/kde/3.2/lib/libkdeprint_management.so.4: undefined symbol:
_Z14shadowPasswordRK7QString",
with openoffice i cannot print but i can get a print test page...
It seems that as root i can print normaly [did not check it completely].
When i set the printer with the kde control center, i have a print test page. There is a strange issue: when i am asked for root and his password i have to type it several times before it gets accepted. Then as a user i want to set the printer [for instance in kword] my printer does not appear anymore and i get the above message.
But if i drag the file to the printer icon on the desktop it works...
Need your help...
Thank you

Cannot realy help, but I read many post about problems in kde-3.2 and often it helped to delete the old config files of kde-3.1.x
Best regards,

|

Hi.
I have both kde-3.1.5 and kde-3.2 in my system.
I checked the printing issue in the 2 kde systems.
I deleted my 2 .kde-3.1 and .kde-3.2 directories.
Then i logged in my kde-3.1.5 and printing worked correctly.
I logged out and logged in my kde-3.2 , i got still the same error:
"/usr/kde/3.2/lib/libkdeprint_management.so.4: undefined symbol:
_Z14shadowPasswordRK7QString".
I "hope" someone had the same problem and knew what do to to solve it...

Delete the files an log into kde-3.2 first, this is what I would try.
Best regards,

Hi MaGus
First thank you for your replies.
I deleted the files, i have no .kde-3.1 directory anymore, and it does not help.
I reinstalled qt and kdelibs but with no results.Still the same problem. What is strange is that with kedit it works, and if i test the printer in openoffice , the test works , the printer issues a print test page, but if i want to print a document in ooffice [or in koffice] it does not work.
Regards

Hi Magus
By the way what qt version do you use?
Maybe it comes from it...

Hi
I have solved the problem.
"undefined symbol" appears when 2 packages were not compiled with the same compiler version.
After recompiling several packages, i had to re-emerge koffice and recompiling it.
The problem is over when i want to print with koffice.
I have not checked it yet but apparently i will have to recompile openoffice to make the printer works too.
