My dad is going to install gentoo on his box this week and I have a few questions before that. Is there any way we can use my gentoo box to speed up the compiling of xfree and kde or gnome? If so how (is there a how-to somewhere)? I'm also a bit worried about the disk usage, the harddrive is only a bit over 12 gigs (my kde info center tells me that I have user around 7 gigs of my 29 on my root partition, can this be correct?). He has win xp installed on the first harddrive. Do we have to install grub etc. on the mbr of that drive to make it work or what is the easiest way? |

Instructions for compling on multiple machines:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/distcc.xml
The 12GB disk is large enough.
And, yes, you can install GRUB on the MBR of hda. The install doc shows a sample grub.conf with a section for dual-booting Windows XP. _________________ "There is no teacher but the enemy." |

probably teh easiest thing is to install grub into the mbr of the first booted device and point to
an boot partition at the beginning of your linux drive |
