Hello,
I would like to use XFree DRM accelerated with my 3Dfx Voodoo 3. I know that direct rendering is only available at the resolution 1024x768 16bit or below. And that is true, that happens with my computer.
But I use a 1280x1024 LCD monitor. And if I use 1024x768 res, the screen will not be clean, but smoothy. To have a perfect picture on my monitor, I have to use 1280x1024 res.
Does anybody know if it is possible to patch or tweak drivers or XFreeDRM to get direct rendering at 1280x1024 res?
Thanks a lot every one. |

I don't think there is anything that can be tweaked to have that card maintain that high of a resolution, particularly with direct rendering. Given the age of the card, the hardware just isn't capable of it. (Yes, I have one too.) However, if you put the default values for the card, and the default values for your monitor, in the xf86cfg app, you will be lucky to get a refresh rate of 60Hz, which will make your eyes bleed.
I got better results on my Xfree modelines with a Voodoo3 card using either of the following Xfree online modeline generators:

Additional tips, hints and tricks, along with those same links, can be found in this thread:

Hope this helps. _________________ Of course you can have my root password. I'm on Hardened! |
