I am trying to patch in the drop shadow patch into the KDE-CVS I am running. The patch is a couple of days old so it should work.

Anyway, I have it patched in now and I ran:

make -f Makefile.cvs - which worked flawlessly.

But while doing the configuration I stumble across this error and I have no clue of what it is or what to do so I would be glad for some help here...

Code:

checking for XF86MiscSetGrabKeysState in -lXxf86misc... yes
checking "struct ucred"... yes
checking nogroup... nogroup
checking for getpeereid... no
checking for xmkmf... not found
configure: error: xmkmf/imake not found. Please make sure it's in PATH!

Anyone here knows what I should do to make it any further?

Best regards,

Henrik

Just an update,

I have found here in the forums that they are files that is in /usr/X11R6/bin and that a re-emerge of xfree would solve the problem (well it obviously did for others).

But it still doesn't work for me so now I have a rather newbie question for you all :) How do I add /usr/X11R6/bin to the path.

Code:

bash-2.05b# echo $PATH
/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin

Probably simple but I have not found anything here about it really and I am not that much into the linux system yet.

Look at /etc/profile.env

Thanks for tha fast reply, but this is a bit strange I think. As I said I do not know that much about the system under the cosmetics... but when I
do a 'echo $PATH' as my ordinary user it looks like this (have not added any path in profile.env):

Code:

bash-2.05b$ echo $PATH
/usr/kde/cvs/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/opt/bin:/usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/3.3:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/bin:/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1/jre/bin:/usr/kde/cvs/bin:/usr/qt/3/bin:/usr/kde/3.2/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin

But I cannot do a ./configure from here which is normal... but when I SU it is as before, only:

Code:

bash-2.05b# echo $PATH
/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin

Isn't that strange? Do you know how I can have the same paths as SU or ROOT and do the ./configure?

Well... all solved. Stupid as I am I thought the path for SU would be the same as for root. Logged in again as root and now the ./configure works.

:) :)

normaly root got a special path for security reason.

But you can try to change the ROOTPATH, this will set your PATH as root I think.

Ok... sorry to bother you again, but the problems keep coming :/

Now after the configure went ok it doesn't take long into the make process until it stops with this error:

Quote:
grep: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.3/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.3/libstdc++.la: No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.3/libstdc++.la' is not a valid libtool archive
make[3]: *** [kded_favicons.la] Error 1
make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/antipod/kdebase/libkonq/favicons'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/antipod/kdebase/libkonq'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/antipod/kdebase'
make: *** [all] Error 2
bash-2.05b#

Just a wild shot, maybe you know how to solve this... or anyone else for that matter?! I re-emerged gcc but that obviously wasn't the error.

Thanks again,

/Henrik

Try using /sbin/fix_libtool_files.sh
