I have a dual PII-233 system with an AGP Banshee 16M card in it. It runs fine, using kernel 2.6.2, for about half an hour of emerging with MAKEOPTS=-j3 - then seems to lock up.
The console cursor (I'm using Banshee framebuffer btw) stops blinking entirely. This would seem like one of the CPUs b0rked the kernel - but: no keyboard LEDs are lit/blinking, so there's no kernel panic. Furthermore, pressing numlock, capslock, or scroll-lock will light the correct LEDs - the kernel is still alive.
But the display is completely frozen. ???
Is the Banshee driver not SMP-safe or something? Anything I should check?
I have to say that it works beautifully in Win2k even when heavily using 3d accel, with no crashing. Not an overheating problem I don't think. |
