I did run the emerge -up kde and this is what i get when i try to start upgrading kde.... Code: | [ebuild N ] sys-kernel/gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.1-r1
I'm already using gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.2, i find this annoying, at least not need when i already got kernel 2.6.2 installed an running good. Lucky for me, there is an way around this, just do emerge kde then it shoud install normal whitout the kernel source.. |

I dont think it would hurt if you check your virtuals file anyway (if you havent done so). If you want to try to narrow down the problem, try package by package from the bottom to see when the kernel requirement pops in (unless you know that). Then do an emerge -pv to see what use variables it is honouring. Then try to disable all those use flags and add them one by one to see if one of the use flags is causing this. I think the only likely culprit is the alsa use flag in one of the kde packages (multimedia I think).
In the virtuals file you should make sure that you kernel provides alsa.
If none of these work, you have exhausted my knowledge |

'-u' causes emerge to upgrade everything (i.e. emerge -u world), not just kde. If 2.6.2 is not stable, then -u will also downgrade to the lastest stable version. If you want to upgrade, but not go down a version number, use '-U' instead (thats a capital U). _________________ Keyboard error or no keyboard present. Press F1 to continue. |
