Code:
checking for Qt... libraries /usr/qt/3/lib, headers /usr/qt/3/include using -mt
checking for moc... /usr/qt/3/bin/moc
checking for uic... /usr/qt/3/bin/uic
checking whether uic supports -L ... yes
checking whether uic supports -nounload ... yes
checking if Qt needs -ljpeg... ^[[3~no
checking for rpath... yes
checking for KDE... libraries /usr/kde/3.2/lib, headers /usr/kde/3.2/include
checking if UIC has KDE plugins available... no
configure: error: you need to install kdelibs first.
died running ./configure, kde_src_compile:configure

It gives this to me when I attempt to recompile KMPlayer, since I found the new version. This is quite irritating to me. I'm using Qt 3.3.0, KDE 3.2.0, and anything else, just ask me, and I'll post it.

Oh, I'm on x86 architecture. Yes, I know KMPlayer 0.8.2 is marked unstable on x86. Yes, I ran ldconfig.

The configure program does nof find your kde-libs. Maybe you should emerge a devel package for that. I cannot check it out for the moment because I'm working on my SuSe PC and my gentoo is at home.

Not to say you shouldn't use what you like, but have you tried kaffiene? It works for me with 3.2, and uses xine-lib. I find it's a little more responsive and nicer over all than kmplayer. If I want to start a video quickly from the command line, or want a bunch of filters (think cleaning up low-bandwidth, low-res video that looks like hell without heavy filters), I use plain old mplayer.

I think this is down to the qt 3.3 upgrade - I had the same problem with k3b. Reemerging kdelibs and kdeartwork, after the qt upgrade should fix it.

There's a sticky thread in the desktop section with more info.
