I had alsa working fine.. until I restarted KDE.. now all my music sounds like it's done by munchkins.
alsamixer has no bass or tone controls.. help!?

i broke it.. i fixed it.. i broke it again - i have no idea what i'm doing.

I'd suggest configuring alsa through alsamixergui (emerge alsamixergui) and using aumix or something similar to keep track of your volume settings (emerge aumix, rc-update add aumix default).
KDE loads its settings by default, to turn this off do:
Settings -> Control center -> sound and multimedia -> mixer, then uncheck 'load volumes on login'.
Regarding alsamixergui, check ADC and DAC to make sure they're both maxed out (or whatever works for you....that's usually where I have my problems as KDE likes to mute half of DAC). Good luck! |
