I'm using the 2 CD live install of gentoo 1.4 and got as far as installing the kernel using genkernel. All was fine until an error occurred:
!!! ERROR: media-libs/lcms-1.12 failed
!!! Function econf, Line 34, Exitcode 139
econf failed
So, I typed in: Code: | emerge --usepkg genkernel | and the same error occurred again.
This is the second go-round (i.e, starting over completely) and I'm getting pretty fed-up ... I hope someone can help. _________________ Clue-less |

I have never used genkernel so I can't help you in that respect but several of my friends who have used it have had nothing but problems.
I recommend compiling the kernel the normal way. Follow the install instructions. This seems to boot faster and be more stable.
Remember to mount /boot before you copy your bzImage over to it.

Do yourself a favor... manually configure your kernel. |

just a suggestion, why not
compile the stuff, why "--usepkg", it's a small package
to emerge (compile)
