i can get the demo to run, but my mouse and screen get totally screwed up. the screen itself becomes off-centered and my mouse is practically uncontrollable because it keeps wanting to move upwards for some reason. funky.

hopefully the native demo will be fixed and out soon. :)

This sounds like what happens if you run it in direct3d mode, use opengl and it should be fine.

I also found I had to run it fullscreen otherwise I'd have some weird mouse problems.

I've gotten it to the point where the graphics are perfect (using opengl) but sound is completely screwed. I just tried another windows game under wine (dungeon siege) and sounds is fine.

Sound is all garbled in UT2004. I've played around with this section:
Code:

[ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem]
UseEAX=False
Use3DSound=False
UseDefaultDriver=False
CompatibilityMode=False
MaxEAXVersion=255
UsePrecache=True
ReverseStereo=False
Channels=32
MusicVolume=0.290000
AmbientVolume=0.500000
SoundVolume=0.900000
VoiceVolume=2.500000
VolumeScaleRec=0.100000
DopplerFactor=1.000000
Rolloff=0.500000
TimeBetweenHWUpdates=50.000000
DisablePitch=False
LowQualitySound=True
UseVoIP=False
UseVAD=False
UseSpatializedVoice=False
SpatializedVoiceRadius=100000.000000
EnhancedDenoiser=False
LocalZOffset=0.000000

With various True/False settings for the UseDefaultDriver and CompatibilityMode and a few others, but no improvement.

Ideas?

I didn't do anything special to get the sound to work with ut2004 so if it helps at all I'll tell you what my setup is. Kernel 2.6.2, using kernel alsa with an sb live, kde sound server disabled.

Downloading now... I hope it runs as good as the Windows one. I really want to switch to Linux fully and that is the one game that holds me back :(.

It seems to be running well for me. I am still having the problem when I exit games, the process still exists. I have to do a kill on the process to get it to terminate. Anyone else having this problem with games?

Does anybody have the linux client up and running on their box? I really hope it performs better than ut2k3 does on my machine (XP1900+, 512MB, Geforce4 Ti4600). It's still playable, but pretty jumpy. Here's hoping that UT2K4 is faster in opengl mode!

so I played 1/2 a DM before work.... so I'm a little late :)

its seems faster to me. the fps seem to be about 20% better at a higher res then I played ut2003!! if course that could be dependent on the maps etc... but it seems nicer. so burps or skips and this in on a old P4 1.3, with 384Mb RAM and a nvidia GeForce FX5700. (2.5 yr old box, sweet card)
Were they supposed to have vamped up the opengl aspect of the game ?

The sound seems better too, crisper and better effects, those planks creak when you walk over them!

It may be friday but I think I'm staying in tonight!

Plus anybody else notice the tux on the splash screen when the game starts, way cool.

Same HW here and running just fine in 1280x1024 all on "normal"

i am using the linux client, but this game is so screwed up. you run like 100 mph and the whole game is uncontrollable, because you cant aim or do anything the way you want. graphics and new ideas are great nevertheless.
personally i prefer quake and et.
