when you accept_keywords="~x86", you'll be emerging software that hasnt been 'unmasked' ...not tested enough by 'gentoo' to be 'stable' i guess...but in some cases you'll have to use masked packages.. _________________ -merc

By using ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" it uses the latest "unstable" versions of the software, bu have not been thoroughly tested with Gentoo. Using "x86" gives you that stable versions of the software that has been tested, and is known to work. It usually a good idea to keep the "x86" setting, unless your like me and want the newest stuff. |

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS will do so u have the latest packages, but it can be unstable. |

actually, I do find "~arch" quite stable in gentoo.
regardless of having said the above, I highly recommend
that all and sundry go "~arch", unless of course, you
are running a production box which controles nukes and such.
by doing so, you will help to make gentoo better.
just my own opinion

Mahir, "~x86" is another slot, another dimension,
that's why the list of emerge -ud world is so long
