i'm switching from an dynamic IP detected by dhcp to a permenant IP. Is there anything I need to do?
Will it be okay to leave it to dhcp or should i adust anything?
Many thanks

That depends.
If you box is from now on getting a permanent IP from your ISP and the ISP is giving that by DHCP, then by all means, let it remain on DHCP. You will just be given the same IP over and over again. Demon Internet works that way.
If you need to setup it yourself. Then you do need to change it. In the /etc/conf.d/net file you can pretty much change everything you need to ( I assume you have basic network knowledge, if not, just ask ) and then restart your network.
Good luck.
