weltgeist,
As shown here, http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/search_res.php?pattern=aiptek, your mp3 player is a usb-storage compatible device. Which means that it is really easy to get working in Linux.
Just follow the step-by-step directions here: HOWTO USB Mass Storage Device and Gentoo
[EDIT]Ahhh, I see that you already got it mounted. You might want to check that you are mounting it as vfat. ie. mount -t vfat. When you say that you can't see the file, does that mean that you can't play the mp3 or see the name of the mp3 on the player? Are you still able to play/see any of the other mp3s that were put on there by Windows? When it is mounted are you able to play the mp3 using xmms (or an equivalent) from the memory card/player's internel memory?

thank you for your help. The problem is that everything seems perfect
i got the device mounted
moreover in an automatic "vfat" way
i see the files already on the stick, i can copy them to my computer
i can even erase them!
with all these things there is no problem!
But
when i copy some file on the stick
i can see the file attached in the /media/sda1/ directory
i can even play it with xmms! i can even unmount the device
and remount it without disconnecting it
and everything seems ok the file i copied is still there!
Only when i unmount and i disconnect the device, the file it's not there anymore!
it's really as if the computer writes in a somehow wrong way which the stick is
not able to handle on its own. Maybe i have to change something in the fstab....
P.S..
the dmesg gives me "sda: Write Protect is off" |

Just a thought... What is your /etc/fstab entry for /dev/sda1?

this is the entry:
/dev/sda1 /media/sda1 auto noauto,user,exec 0 0 #HOTPLUG B3Fu.e1NP0BwJri5
and the entry for the usb device is:
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs noauto 0 0 |

This is what mine is:
Code: | /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb vfat rw,noauto,owner,users,uid=1000,gid=100,umask=000 0 0
|
Maybe trying changing the first auto to vfat and add rw to the second set of options. Possibly, the "auto" is getting confused.
Note: You could always try booting up Knoppix and seeing if it works there. Knoppix is nice because it automatically mounts and unmounts usb devices as they are plugged in/unplugged.
