KDE login problems (solved)

After running emerging world yesterday non-root users can no longer login to KDE. I can get in as a root user but for non-root users the login hangs when it get to the point where it says it is initializing periferals it never goes any farther. Does anyone know how to fix this or have any ideas where to look to findout what is happening.

I rebuild xorg and KDE starting working again. Not sure why it worked but it did.
