Hi,
Ich möchte meine wireless Karte zum laufen bringen. Nur wie?
Ich habe im kernel die pcmcia module aktiviert habe pcmcia-cs emerged und habe das wirelessmodul für meine wlan karte als modul aktiviert.
So und jetzt? Was muss ich noch alles machen? |

Ich empfehle ganz dringend die Suchfunktion zu benutzen. Ich möchte wetten, dass Du etwas passendes finden wirst. Momentaner Stand der Dinge im Gentoo Forum: 179 Treffer bei Eingabe von Wlan.
Gentoo ist eine Distribution wo man sehr viel Dokumentation lesen muss. Falls in den Dokumentionen etwas unklar ist kann man immer noch fragen.
Falls Du Hilfe brauchst sag uns wo du stecken bleibst, dann wird sich sicher jemand Deiner annehmen.

| danke das mit der suchfunktion habe ich sehr wohl schon genutzt. Nur steht in keinem post, wie man ein wlan von grund auf installiert. |

| Ich weis nicht, es könnte sein dass du versuchst die Netzwerkschnittstelle zu konfigurieren?? Wo hängst Du eigentlich genau? |

das prob ist nicht die karte zu konfigurieren dazu gibt es genu dokus.
ABER. Die wirelesskarte zum laufen zu bringen. das heist
mit ifconfig -a hat es keine netzwerkkarte ausser eth0 angezeigt obwohl ich wireless karte usw. drin hab
mit iwconfig kommt irgendwie no extension |

Starting pcmcia will try to run /etc/init.d/net.ethx or /etc/init.d/net.wlanx, so set that up however is appropriate for you. Or just do things manually.
I'm still at the point where I get the interface up, get an IP address from the DHCP server on the base station, and then can't push any traffic. And I've tried both the orinoco and hostap drivers.
I'm going to start a new thread for this issue and see if anybody who can help notices.

It turns out that I wasn't pushing traffic because my base station had "Short Preamble" enabled. I changed it to "Long Preamble" and things started going. |

so habe das ganze jetzt xmal getestet:)
beim ausführen von /etc/runlevels/default/pcmcia start kommt folgender fehler:

cardmgr[11333]: no sockets found!
cardmgr failed to start. Make sure that you have PCMCIA modules build or support compiled into the kernel |

Hm, ja hast du denn PCMCIA support im kernel, bzw. hast du das modul (so du es als solches gebaut hast) auch geladen?

Habe jetzt endlich pcmcia zum laufen gebracht so wie es da steht *freu*
nur wird trozdem meine wlan karte net erkannt |

so ich möchte noch was dazufügen. Habe jetzt mal gebootet und geschaut was pcmcia so findet.
Er hat mein wlankarte gefunden (cardmgr[2840]: socket 0: 350 Series Wireless...)
nur dass probiert er modprobe airo_cs zu laden und findet aber das modul nicht. Ich habe nur das modul airo gefunden.... was muss ich machen? |

so habe alles hingekriegt nur habe ich jetzt ein prob.
manchmal gehts und manchmal nicht
und ich muss immer iwconfig eth1 essid xxx
usw.... eingeben. Ich habe das ganze Forum nach einr GUTEN Doku gesucht aber leider nichts gefunden.... kann mir da jemand auf die sprünge helfen? |
