Is it possible to use multimedia keys in Gnome to control xmms (or maybe another mp3 player)? I configured the buttons in Applications->Desktop Settings->Multimedia Keys and Volume etc. works. But if I press "play" or "next" nothing happens.
Does anyone know, where I can configure Gnomes behaviour on these default actions? |

Besides configuring my multimedia keys in the Gnome settings (like you did), I use a plugin for XMMS called xmms-xf86audio, which makes XMMS react to the "play", "next" etc keys.
You can find it here (although I think there's no ebuild for it, but it's easy to compile).
Works great for me, hope this helps. |

I tried xmms-itouch, as it is in portage. It's a little bit buggy (it segfaults xmms, if I configure a key in Gnome and in xmms) - but once there is a working config, it does its job really well. |
