If KGet is the only thing you want to rebuild, and you don't want to rebuild the entire kdenetwork ebuild, you can save yourself some time.

1> Download the kdenetwork source.
# emerge -f kdenetwork

2> Copy the file somewhere for building.
# cp /usr/portage/distfiles/kdenetwork-3.2.1.tar.bz2 /home/darkstalker/

3> Bunzip and untar it.
# tar xvfj kdenetwork-3.2.1.tar.bz2

4> Download the kget crash patch from the URL linked in my previous post and move it to the kget subdirectory inside the kdenetwork directory.
# mv kdenetwork-3.2.1-kget-crash.patch /home/darkstalker/kdenetwork-3.2.1/kget/

5> Change to the kget directory.
# cd /home/darkstalker/kdenetwork-3.2.1/kget/

6> Patch the files.
# patch -p2 < kdenetwork-3.2.1-kget-crash.patch

7> Go back to the main kdenetwork directory and configure the source.
# cd .. && ./configure

8> Go back to the kget directory after configure is done and compile it, then install it.
# cd kget && make && make install

Everything should be working fine and I only had to wait about 10 minutes for the Kget compile as opposed to the 2 1/2 hours the entire kdenetwork package requires. Kget has been working flawless again. Welcome back to my desktop, little buddy. I missed you.

Great stuff, Darkstalker!

I carried out your instructions as above and left kget downloading about 20 files last night and this morning they had all downloaded and kget closed cleanly.

Kget is a necessary application, along with the media players etc, which will make Linux a serious alternative for all but games players... and that's only a matter of time!

I'm sorry, but who said that Linux isn't good alternative for gamers? Most of modern popular games, such as Neverwintr Nights, Unreal, etc. have Linux versions inbox, Unreal Warfare engine was partly developed on Linux, and most of upcoming games use one of mentioned engines. I had a chance to run a couple of them on the same hardware in Linux RedHat and in Win2000 and their perfomance was much greater in Linux. Linux allready have become a good choice for gamers who want to play modern games without purchasing new hardware(some of my friends made this choice).
