Moved packages being updated?

In the last weeks I noticed more and more packages being moved from one section to another, eg media-sound/xmms-volnorm is now media-plugins/xmms-volnorm. the reorganisation is fine, the categories are more precise now, BUT:
Are these packages upgraded anymore? I have not yet encountered any new version in another section, but to be honest: I didn't check them all, but I also do not have the time to crosscheck after every rsync if there might be a difference. I'm just a little concerned, that automatic updates may loose some packages ..
