erm
i saw on a change log the following :
Code:

  'ECPUS="n" emerge openoffice-ximian'

u change n to the number of cpu's.

well , A - i have hyperthreading on ma p4, will it make a diff if it worked?
and B - how do i know if its actually using the ECPUS flag? where can i see the number of cpu's working etcetcetc


any idaes?

why don't you edit this line in /etc/make.conf: MAKEOPTS="-j2". Some /etc/make.conf comment lines:

# the number of parallel makes (-j) to perform. The suggested number
# for parallel makes is CPUs+1.

So if you change this to MAKEOPTS="-j3" your ht capable CPU should be under "full load".
