After doing an etc-update, I can't SU to root.
It's not that my password has changed, Gentoo says I don't have the rights to SU.
What happened? |

chances are that you updated the /etc/group file without realizing it. Just use usermod to add your user to the wheel group and you'll be able to su again. _________________ Rationality is the recognition of the fact that nothing can alter the truth and nothing can take precedence over that act of perceiving it. |

what happened is that you didn't use the search function... This question has been asked hundreds of times...
You've overwritten /etc/group and your user isn't in the "wheel" group anymore.
modify /etc/group and add your username to "wheel". _________________ ... and we will show Microsoft, that they cannot take whatever they want. And that Free Software is our software! |

Glad to help. Just remember to be careful with etc-update in the future. _________________ Rationality is the recognition of the fact that nothing can alter the truth and nothing can take precedence over that act of perceiving it. |
