In game, the ut2k4 demo feels like it has 200% of the speed, ut2k3 had. is that normal? i thinks its unplayable, since you cant point at any target, while strafeing in an hovercraft, for expample. |

havent played ut2003 in a while but yea it does seem a little faster game play, but I like it. With onslaught and assualt modes its now got all the best bits of games like quake3 (in its speed), battlefield 1942 (in its vehicles, large landscapes and multiple point "capture and hold") and rtcw:et in its objectives. I'm definitly getting the 2 dvd set. |

Tried adjusting your mouse sensitivity?
The speed on mine is normal, as I expected, just like the windows version |

The OpenGL rendering engine in UT2004 is vastly improved over 2003's IMHO, 2004 is far more playable than 2003 was so you're not crazy |

havent played it yet, but to be faster than ut2003 is not a problem
i like it fast, perhaps it can compete with quake3arena in gameplay... _________________ geek by nature, linux by choice

if you want speed, turn up the gamespeed.
it doesn't need to 'compete' with quake to be good. |

The gameplay is faster, however it isn't still that fast like Q3. _________________ Do you want your posessions identified? [ynq] (n) |

never said, neenee. ut2003 was created to be number one in none-objective-fps before q3, this has never been possible. perhaps ut2004 makes the right step... _________________ geek by nature, linux by choice

I felt that ut2k4 was slowed down a little bit from 2k3, which I thought was a good thing. Maybe it just "feels" better. I thought UT2K3 was way too Quake-ish for my taste, but 2k4 is a great improvement. |

ut2k3 nor ut2k4, even exaggerating, don't come close to the raw speed of the quake3 engine.
but they are very different games, q3 dosen't have nearly as many bells and whistles.
i have noticed a speed improvement in ut2k4 over ut2k3, but I seem to be having a large amount of trouble aiming in ut2k4 (vehicles are fine) and it is really driving me nuts. I cannot track people nor can I hit them with my weapon fire.
has anyone experienced this sort of debilitating gameplay and found a resolution? (this was a commone problem for me in ut2k3 too)
one thing i miss from q3 was the "buzzer" when i did damage to my opponent. That buzzer at least gave me an indication of how I was shooting. in UT its like a free for all where It appears to be completely inconsistent in terms of effect and damage. |

Absolutely, the engine was sped up dramatically. I was shocked when I first started the 2k4 demo assault misison and saw those extremely detailed vehicles moving without any stuttering. It's amazing. _________________ if only I could fill my heart with love... |

You might have speedfreqd running as dynamic mode, in which case it thinks your computer's running in powersave mode at the beginning. Then as the game plays, the CPU shoots up to the maximum speed, and your game is 200% faster |
