First of all, for some odd reason at random times my CPU monitor goes up to 100%, even though when I go into my monitor, nothing is taking up anywhere NEAR 100%. My laptop fan starts going at full speed, but as soon as I open the system monitor, click the processes tab and close the system monitor, it goes back down to 0% usage. WEIRD huh?!
Also, I have APM compiled into my kernel (2.6), but when I type reboot or shutdown, my PC does not shutdown. If I type reboot, everything closes down, screen goes black, but it never starts up again. When I shutdown... well I have no clue what it does.
Any help would be appreciated. |

Fan spin up could just be caused by extra heat generated by some processing being done. My laptop's fans rarely turn off under linux for some reason, but under windows they will turn off about 5mins after startup...
Honestly I feel it is caused by buggy ACPI/APM implementations (after all its a software laptop well mine is at least)...
Are you sure you should be using APM? Have you tried ACPI? |
