OK, here's the deal.
I started getting aggrivated with my machine, so I decided to reinstall Gentoo and start over. Before I did this, I copied my home directory to a storage partition. I paid pariticular attention to my evolution directory as I did not want to lose any mail or contacts.
Once Gentoo finished its thing and I had a working environment with evolution, I copied my evolution directory into its new location.
Well..I get nothing. No mail (not THAT big of a deal) and no contacts (MAJOR big deal).
Did I miss something?! Is there anyway to import a .db into evolution? I still have the original directory, should I do this another way?
I can't find any answers to this aside from doing what I've already done...and most questions pertain to 1.2 and older versions.
UPDATE - copied the evolution directory once again...this time, I did get my email, my calendar entries, my signatures...everything it seems but my contacts! This SUCKS!!! _________________ Gentoo and Slackware...the perfect pair! |

And....NEVERMIND.
God, that was a pain! lol
So, here's what I did (in case someone else has the same problem).
Closed Evolution and completed exited the system. Logged back in (init 3 - no gui) cp -r'ed the entire evolution directory over. I then started X (KDE 3.2) and exec'ed Evolution...I now have Contacts.
Obviously there's some background tasks or something running even after I closed Evolution that prevented the contacts from being displayed or something.
Not sure...just glad to have my contacts back. (Sometimes you just have to think outloud in order to fix your problems)
Well...thanks...for nothing... _________________ Gentoo and Slackware...the perfect pair! |
