I just updated to kde 3.2 and found that it has a replacement for gtkpbbuttons. unfortunately, when the laptop suspends and resumes it quits working. with gtkpbbuttons I just ran it again on resume.
but I don't know what program to run again for this, does anyone know? _________________ http://www.desertsol.com/~kevin/ppc |

hi
the app is called kmilo.
You can disable it under KDE Components-->Service Manager in the KDE Controllcenter. Unfortunately there are no settings for kmilo... |

I can suspend and resume my iBook 800 and kmilo still runs without problems.
Maybe you could try to update pbbuttonsd to the newest version? _________________ "Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

I should try that.
what version of pbbuttonsd and the kernel are you running?
I'm running ppc-development-sources-2.6.1-r1. I can't suspend at all on battery, only on AC power. _________________ http://www.desertsol.com/~kevin/ppc |

ppc-development-sources-2.6.2_rc1-r1 + this caps-lock patch:
http://teksolv.de/~jameson/ppc/caps.path-2.4.6.gz (I had to manually update it to 2.6)
pbbuttonsd-0.5.8
I can suspend in battery-mode, although I have some problems with my power-key after I applied the caps-lock patch: It seems to me that caps-lock and power have the same keycode. I guess this is the reason that suspend sometimes only works on cover closedown. _________________ "Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

awesome! the version of the kernel and pbbuttonsd you're using fixed my problems.
do you use mol on the console? I ran molvconfig and had it probe the current mode only. when I ran startmol --osx though the login screen has a blueish tinge to it, as if the color channels were out of order. I should start another thread about that. _________________ http://www.desertsol.com/~kevin/ppc |

I run a Linux-only system, so no mol for me.
BTW, I like the webpage link in your signature (which you already updated with this new info!). It was a very good resource for my first-time installation. _________________ "Work is the curse of the drinking classes."

Thanks, glad it helped get you started!
the mol solution was to switch OS X to millions of colors from the thousands it somehow got set to. _________________ http://www.desertsol.com/~kevin/ppc |
