|

I noticed it's possible to have Power Management disabled in menuconfig, but still have ACPI turned off. On the other hand, the Power Management help says to turn it on Quote: | If you want to use either one, [ACPI or APM] say Y here and then also to the requisite support below. |
So which is it? If ACPI's a part of so-called 'Power Management,' how come it's possible to enable ACPI without enabling Power Management? _________________ >>> Also, customizing emacs can be an exercise in black magic.

Yes, black magic doesn't use parentheses.

ACPI includes power management, but it is much more than that... So you can disable power management, and still use the other features of ACPI. _________________ Gwendolyn |

It used to be that when you enabled "Power Management" as a kernel option that would open up the decision tree on whether or not to enable APM and/or the various features of ACPI. I don't think that's the case any more, but the online help you read is probably a remnant of the old setup. _________________ Behold, The power of SEARCH! |
